pastitsio & my papa.

Last night I made pastitsio for dinner in honor of my papa who has now been in heaven for 2 years. Pastitsio is sort of a greek comfort food. Here is my mom and I's favorite version:

When I was 9 years old, my Nana and Papa took me on a 10 day trip to Greece to meet my greek cousins and great Aunt Strolla. I hadn't realized until this week how much I really do remember about it. I could write 10 pages but instead I will leave you with a photo that my brother emailed me. Papa and I are standing about 20 feet from the Acropolis in Athens. He was telling me about the Apostle Paul and how he could have preached near that very spot we were standing. That seemed so simple to me then. I just wish I could go back to that moment and hear his voice.

And on that day when my strength is failing. The end draws near and my time has come. Still my soul will sing Your praise unending. Ten thousand years and then forevermore.
